ISTOM, College of Internation Agro-Development
Overall presentation
Located within the French Engineering School named Institut polytechnique Saint-Louis in Cergy-Pontoise, in the Val d’Oise département, about forty kilometres from Paris, the College of International Agro-Development(ISTOM) offers a multidisciplinary training programme unique in Europe. Its vocation is to train its future engineers in designing, implementing and managing agro-economic development projects in developing countries.
The five-year programme includes a three-year cycle dedicated to the fundamentals of life sciences, but also economic, political and social sciences. The second cycle is dedicated to in-depth studies of engineering sciences and carrying them into practice within the framework of development projects.

Organisation
The Board of Governors
ISTOM is a non-profit making association (law of 1901) run by a Board of Governors made up of 20 members:
- School of founding members (former students): 8 administrators max.
- School of members (companies): 10 administrators max.
- School of associate members (students’ parents): 2 administrators max.
The Board of Governors meets three times yearly with a chief thematic issue on top of the current issues: strategic reflection, school assessment and financial accounting.
The School Board
Made up of 5 members – the Head, the Director of Student Life, the Department Directors – the School Board’s objective is to manage both the student life and the school and teaching life at ISTOM. The School Board is the highest body in the school authority and rules on disciplinary meetings and examinations.
The Scientific Board
Made up of 15 members, teacher-researchers, personalities of the scientific world and representatives of companies and institutions in relationship with ISTOM’s trades. The Scientific Board provides the Board of Governors elements for reflection and proposals in terms of:
• aim of training versus labour market and employment trends,
• direction of courses as regards technical, scientific and economic matters,
• direction of research within ISTOM’s specific areas.
ISTOM is accredited by the Commission des titres d'ingénieurs.
